Fifth Week of Trinity Term 2018

Hello! Happy 5th Week (already!). We had a very busy and blessed weekend at the Chaplaincy, with Nightfever, Finalists' Brunch, a BBQ for residents current and new, and the great feast of Pentecost during which we had the joy of celebrating the Baptism and Confirmation of six of our students. Thank you to everyone who pitched in to make the Mass and reception a great success, especially the altar servers and sacristans who welcomed Bishop Kenney in such a warm, dignified way. As we mark the halfway point of Trinity, we’ve [...]

Fourth Week of Trinity Term 2018

Hello! How are you? I hope you've had a good and restful weekend. On Saturday, we enjoyed a relaxing garden party in the grounds of Campion Hall, and celebrated our wonderful Fr Matthew's birthday! Thank you to all who worked hard to organise and host such a glorious event, especially the committees of the Newman CathSoc and Companions of the Order of Malta, and the Jesuits at Campion for welcoming us so warmly into their home. Thank you also to Providence, for holding off the downpour until the very end! [...]

Third Week of Trinity Term 2018

Morning everyone, What a glorious day! I hope you've managed to get outside this weekend, and have taken a break from work/revision to enjoy it! We were blessed with a wonderful visit from Fr Damian Howard, the Jesuit Provincial, who preached at our 11am Mass this Sunday, and met with many of you afterwards. He celebrated the Rite of Election of two of our catechumens who will be baptised during the 5:45pm Mass on Pentecost Sunday (20th May), along with four other students who will be confirmed. Make sure to save [...]

Second Week of Trinity Term 2018

Hi everyone, Hope you've had a great start to the term. We definitely have here, it's been wonderful to see so many of you back over the past few days. We've had an abundance of talks, meals, and prayer times, a Rosary on the Oxford 'Coast', and even an Apostolic Blessing! There's more to come this week, as all of our usual events continue; I'd just like to draw your attention to a few changes and additions to the schedule: Unfortunately, the Theology of the Body group will be unable to [...]

First Week of Trininty Term 2018 at the Catholic Chaplaincy

Hi everyone, Welcome back! It was great to catch up with so many of you over lunch yesterday, and to hear your Vac stories. It was a busy one here too, with a very blessed Easter Triduum and pilgrimage to Paris and Chartres. So many adventures had, but we’re excited for life to get back to ‘normal’ again… It’s another packed term ahead. If you haven’t yet picked up a term card, do pop round and get one. We’d love to hear your feedback (positive and constructive) on the new [...]

Easter Vac

Dear all, I hope you are well, and have had a restful start to the Vac. This is just a quick email to let you know about the holiday timetable here at the Chaplaincy. Things will be much quieter, but there are still a few events happening for those still in town. This Tuesday from 7-9pm we have a consultation with representatives from the Birmingham Diocese on the upcoming Youth Synod. This event is open to all young adults aged 18-30, and is an important opportunity to contribute to discussion [...]

Eighth Week Newsletter

Hello everyone! Spring has finally returned, and 8th Week is upon us; it’s hard to believe that the term is coming to an end already! We’re keeping up pace here, and have a busy week ahead… We will finish the term in prayer together, with Stations of the Cross on Friday at 6pm. This beautiful Lenten devotion is part of a rich Church tradition in which we meditate on Christ’s journey to Calvary. You are all very welcome to come and share this time of reflection with us. This weekend, [...]
