I was born and brought up in Surrey, just south of London. After studies in music and theology at Trinity College Cambridge, I joined the Jesuits, working and living, among other places in London, Brussels, Paris, Cuba and Chile. I’ve worked in a variety of institutions and was for a time lecturer in Christian-Muslim relations in the University of London, an interest I still have. I come to the Oxford Chaplaincy fresh from serving as Provincial of the Jesuits in Britain, so you can imagine that I am really looking forward to being back in a pastoral role, this time in the intellectually stimulating environment of Oxford.
