Chaplaincy Assistant, Keele Unniversity

Chaplaincy Assistant, Keele Unniversity

Keele University has a strong ecumenical Christian community based at the Chapel, right in the centre of campus, and the Catholic congregation is growing as the word is spread about the existence of the Chapel, church services and CassocK, which has re-established itself in the Chapel since Easter 2011. The Chaplaincy is currently looking for a volunteer Chaplaincy Assistant to join us from mid-September 2012 to mid-June 2013. On behalf of the Chaplaincy and students, all finalists looking for a vocation in the Church, or just something different to do, perhaps while they decide what to do next in life, are invited to apply for the role as soon as they are able to.

The role of Chaplaincy Assistant in previous years has been taken up by a variety of people and we are looking for someone who wants to join our vibrant and thriving community in the heart of the Keele’s Campus. There are many societies based in the Chapel from Emmaus, a Christian-based discussion group, Christian Union and Jesus Jam (a Christian group comprised of predominantly African and Afro-Caribbean students) to the Late Service, a student-led Church service, and CassocK, a society that provides a space on Thursday evenings for Catholic students to come together and participate in Bible Studies, social events and talks and discussions. Whole-Chapel events are also organised for both students and non-students.

If you feel any of your students are interested in taking up such a position that provides pastoral support to others, and a friendly face around the Chapel during the week and are enthusiastic and committed to ecumenism on a campus in beautiful parklands, please direct them to the Chapel website www.keelechapel.org. Most Chaplaincies will be receiving information in the post in the coming days. If you do not receive this information, do not fear! The task description and application form can be found on the webpage, or email any of the Chaplains, whose details are listed on the website, for further information. Please encourage those interested to explore the website as well, where they will find links to various society pages.
