This talk explores a range of responses from philosophers of religion and the different ways in which they attempt to reconcile classic theology with our understanding of the physical world.

Wednesday 8:00: Sacraments and Eucharist –
Entering the Mystery

What is a sacrament and how are we to understand it in relation to the mystery of Christ? This talk explores the different references of ’sacrament’ and the different understandings of the sacraments throughout the Christian centuries against the background of modern understandings of reality.

4th Week Wednesday 8:00: Sacrifice and Salvation –
Rescuing Creation

The heart of Christian belief is that God became a human being, died for us and rose from the dead. It is through our faith in this that we are saved. But why did he die and what changed because of his death? The language of sacrifice has been essential to Christian discussions throughout the centuries and remained central to Christian understandings of the Eucharist. How can the language of sacrifice speak to us in the 21st Century?
